Indoor vs Greenhouse vs Glasshouse CBD Flowers: The Real Differences
When you see a CBD flower for the first time, what stands out the most is the appearance: compact buds, covered in trichomes, with aromas ranging from citrus to earthy. What you can’t see with the naked eye is the type of cultivation. And that, more than the strain name, determines the final quality of the product.
Indoor Cultivation: maximum control, maximum quality
Indoor cultivation is carried out in enclosed spaces under artificial light, with total control of temperature, humidity, CO₂ and photoperiod. This allows:
- Very compact buds with high density.
- Intense terpene profile because the plant doesn’t compete with the outdoor climate.
- Absence of pests and, therefore, no need for aggressive treatments.
- Higher trichome content (the resin where cannabinoids are concentrated).
It is the most expensive method and the slowest one, but it also produces the most potent and aromatic flowers.
Greenhouse Cultivation: natural balance
The greenhouse combines natural light with a greenhouse structure. The plant receives real sun but is protected from rain, wind and pests. It’s a middle ground:
- Buds with good density, slightly less compact than indoor.
- Softer terpene profile, with vegetal nuances.
- More sustainable production at a better price.
Glasshouse Cultivation (glass greenhouse): almost indoor
The glasshouse is a glass or polycarbonate greenhouse that provides more natural light and a stable microclimate. It’s often confused with indoor, but the difference is that the plant directly receives the solar cycle. The result: buds of quality very close to indoor, with a more contained cost and a smaller ecological footprint.
